Great Lever Health Centre Offers:
- Community Psychiatric Nurse (1-5pm Mon & Tues)
- District Nurses (9.00-10.30am Weekdays & 4.00-5.30pm Tues)
- Speech Therapy (9am-5pm Thurs & Fri)
- Podiatry Clinic (9am-12noon Mon, Wed & Thurs)
- Well Baby Clinic (1.30-3.30pm Wed & 10 - 12noon Fri)
- Health Visiting
Health visiting teams consist of a range of trained, skilled health professionals - health visitors, registered nurses, nursery nurses, health care assistants, assistant practitioners and clerical support workers. The service offers information, advice and health interventions, including preventative work for families with young children up to school entry. Information is available on all aspects of health and well being of young children and family health. For example - immunisations, infant nutrition, behaviour management, post natal depression, child development.
Some health visiting teams offer group sessions on a variety of different topics, for example, breastfeeding, weaning, accident prevention. Please contact your nearest team for specific details of the groups that they operate. These may be ran in conjunction with other children's services, e.g. childrens centres.
All parents and new babies are offered a home visit by appointment following discharge from the midwifery service, further contact is arranged on an individual basis to meet health needs..
All children are offered a development health review at age 7 - 9 months, usually at a clinic.
All parents and carers of young children can access advice and information on a weekly basis at any of the Well Baby clinics, ran in either local health centres, children's centres and some GP surgeries. No appointment is necessary to attend these clinics.
Health visiting teams work closely with all other providers of childrens services to ensure families receive co-ordinated services to meet their individual health needs.
